LinkedIn Ad Library: How to Search It (and What It Will Not Show)
The LinkedIn Ad Library is a free, public archive of the ads run by any LinkedIn Company Page over the past year, searchable by anyone at linkedin.com/ad-library with no login and no advertiser account. It is the single most underused competitive-research tool in B2B, because most marketers do not know it exists.
Open the LinkedIn Ad Library →What the LinkedIn Ad Library is
LinkedIn launched its Ad Library so anyone can see the ads a company is running, without an account and without being targeted by them. It covers ads that have run on LinkedIn over roughly the past year, across every Company Page, and it is free and public.
For B2B specifically, this is a bigger deal than the Meta library is for D2C. LinkedIn is where most B2B demand-gen creative lives, and until the library existed the only way to see a competitor’s ads was to be in their target audience and wait to get served. Now you can pull a rival’s entire recent rotation on demand.
How to search the LinkedIn Ad Library
You can search two ways, and they answer different questions. Searching by advertiser (a specific Company Page) returns that company’s full recent set of ads, which is the view that matters when you already know who you are researching. Searching by keyword surfaces advertisers using a phrase, which is how you discover competitors you did not know were running ads.
Set the country filter before you read anything. A global B2B brand runs different messaging by region, and an unfiltered view blends campaigns that were never meant to sit side by side.
- Search a Company Page name for that advertiser’s full recent rotation.
- Search a keyword or topic to find advertisers in a category.
- Filter by country, because B2B messaging diverges hard by market.
- Open a single ad to see its format, copy, and the date range it ran.
The EU data most people miss
Ads that target the European Union carry extra disclosure under EU transparency rules: additional information about targeting parameters and audience reach that is not shown for other markets. If you are researching a competitor that advertises into the EU, that view tells you more about how they segment than any other free source.
What the LinkedIn Ad Library will not do
Nearly every frustration with the tool is a mismatch of expectations, so it is worth being clear about the limits.
- It will not show commercial spend. Budget is disclosed only for EU political and issue ads, not for a normal B2B campaign.
- It will not let you save or bookmark anything. Close the tab and the research is gone.
- It will not export. There is no CSV, no bulk download, no way to hand a designer a set of references except by screenshotting one ad at a time.
- It will not organise. No tags, no folders, no way to group by message so patterns become visible.
How to actually keep the ads you find
This is the same gap every ad library shares: superb at showing you ads, nothing at all for keeping them. The fix is to file the ads worth keeping by mechanism (the demo-led ad, the customer-logo wall, the founder POV, the problem-agitation open) rather than by brand. Filing by brand produces a folder of competitors. Filing by mechanism produces a swipe file you can actually brief from.
Our ad teardowns break down single ads hook by hook, and the swipe file is real ads with the mechanism written out. Once you spot a mechanism worth testing, the free AI hook generator turns the angle into a batch of openers.
FAQ
Is the LinkedIn Ad Library free?
Yes. It is free and public at linkedin.com/ad-library, with no login or advertiser account required. It shows ads that any Company Page has run on LinkedIn over roughly the past year.
How do I find a specific company’s LinkedIn ads?
Search the company’s exact Page name in the Ad Library, or open their LinkedIn Page and use the Ads tab. Both return the full set of ads that advertiser has run over the past year.
Can I see how much a company spends on LinkedIn ads?
No, not for standard B2B campaigns. Spend is disclosed only for political and issue ads targeting the EU. For a normal campaign you can study the creative but not the budget behind it.
How far back does the LinkedIn Ad Library go?
It shows ads that have run on LinkedIn over approximately the past year. Older ads drop out of the view, so it is a rolling window rather than a permanent archive.
Can I download ads from the LinkedIn Ad Library?
Not through LinkedIn. The library has no save, export, or download function, so keeping the ads you find means screenshotting them and filing them yourself, ideally organised by mechanism rather than by brand.
